Welcome to SEAMUS 2009

Sweetwater is honored to be hosting the prestigious SEAMUS 2009 National Conference at our all-new complex in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The dates of the conference will be April 16, 17 and 18. The theme of this year’s conference is Human Interface Devices; a topic near and dear to us all. You can Register for the conference and the banquet on the SEAMUS Online site. You can download the beautiful Conference Program.

It will be quite a change to attend a conference outside of an academic setting and so it should be a unique SEAMUS experience. Many members have relationships with Sweetwater Sales Engineers and so this will be an opportunity for everyone to put faces with the names and voices we have been working with for years in many cases. Everyone at Sweetwater is extremely excited to host such a prestigious and interesting event in the amazing new facility.

The construction project for the new facility took place over a two-year period. We built an automated warehouse facility first and then completely gutted and rebuilt an existing building to be what is now the Administration building. Next, the world-class Studios and Performance Theater, designed by Russ Berger, were built and then a beautiful Mall area that ties all three buildings together. The entire project was finished in January of 2008. The entire building is LEED-compliant and is one of the first buildings in Indiana to be certified as such. It is an energy-efficient building in many ways from the lighting system to the heating and cooling systems. Many of the building materials were derived from recycled materials and quickly renewable resources such as bamboo.

In addition to the usual concerts and papers we hope to offer master classes from a few vendors and manufacturers. There is a very nice kitchen facility on site called the Downbeat Diner, which provides meals at a low price. Three chefs work full time to keep us in high-quality food every day. For an online tour of the new facilities at Sweetwater surf to http://www.sweetwater.com/feature/expansion/. The call for works will be issued very soon. The entire Sweetwater team is looking forward to seeing you all in Fort Wayne next spring for another amazing SEAMUS conference.
